ACHIEVEMENTS
During our early days, we argued before Customs Collector (appeals) in landmark cases in which, Insurance Companies thought that, we could never make a case of it. To be precise, we won a case of Rs.10 lacs as recovery from Customs on Duty suffered on a damaged machine by Automobile Major. Citing the order, the same company had won two of the cases that were never taken up before by them.
We
were also a part of a workshop conducted by
National Insurance Company on Third Party Claims
Management. In fact, we were asked to present
a paper by them, which became a part of handbook
given at the end of the session of the workshop.
Again,
we for the first time defended and won a case
for National Insurance Company, Third Party
Claims Department, Pondicherry, South India
for a sum of Rs.26 lacs. In the Judgment delivered,
our Investigation Report played a major part
and the Presiding Judge, while dismissing the
case, quoted us copiously.
We
have been nominated unanimously, without contest,
as President and General Secretary for Claims
Investigators Association of India. It was during
our tenure we have expanded to almost all states
in India and have opened chapters. In fact we
have held a seminar where guest faculties from
Police Departments and CBI came and addressed.
After opening up of the Insurance Sector to
Private Players, we have been selected as the
only Investigators by couple of Insurance Companies
and we are also being utilized by other Insurance
companies for selective tough cases, which are
otherwise beyond comprehension of fellow Investigators.
It
is because of our sustained effort in detection
of Fraudulent Claims reported to Insurance Companies
that, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has
formed a CB-CID Cell to work exclusively on
complaints. In fact, in one particular district
several claims have been withdrawn and some
of the police officials who aligned with the
fraud perpetrators have been punished.
It
would not be out of place for us to mention
that, in Andhra Pradesh, even persons who were
alive made claims on Insurance Company, as though
they were dead, supported by documents given
by the Govt. Authorities. We were very much
instrumental in unearthing this scam.
